Candidates for academic scholarship will have a record of sustained and current academic achievement significantly in excess of a typical pupil of similar age, across the breadth of the curriculum.

Fee assistance considered:

10-30%

Expectations:

Academic scholars will be expected to continue to achieve exceptional academic grades in classwork and internally and externally assessed examinations.

All scholars will uphold the values and ethos of the school and maintain a good behavioural record. Scholars are role models to others and will demonstrate a commitment to positive contribution to the school community.

Candidates for performing arts scholarships in music are likely to have achieved or be working towards Grade 3 in at least one instrument. They are likely to be participating regularly in concerts, whether as part of a band or orchestra, or as a soloist. At audition, they will demonstrate musical ability significantly above the standard expected of pupils of their age.

Candidates for performing arts scholarships in drama will have a demonstrable record of lead roles in theatrical productions, whether with their school or local or national theatre groups. They may have LAMDA or other nationally recognised qualifications to evidence their ability. At audition, they will demonstrate outstanding dramatic ability in a short performance of their choosing.

Performing arts scholars will be expected to participate fully in Gad’s Hill’s annual programme of drama and music productions.

All scholars will uphold the values and ethos of the school and maintain a good behavioural record. Scholars are role models to others and will demonstrate a commitment to positive contribution to the school community.

Candidates for sport scholarship will have the potential to compete at county or national level in at least one sport, or already be competing at that level (or a sport-specific equivalent). Sports scholars are likely to have a track record of sporting success significantly above that of the majority of their peers.

Sport scholars will be expected to represent Gad’s Hill in competitions and fixtures, performing consistently at a high level.
