Admissions

Most children start their educational journey here at Gad’s Hill School in the nursery when they are 3 years old but we also receive large numbers of external applications for children wishing to join Reception in the Kindergarten, J3 (Year 3) in the Juniors and Upper Shell (Year 7) in the Upper School. Parents interested in applying for a place should complete the registration form and pay the appropriate registration fee when prompted to do so. Priority for places in these year groups is given to existing pupils and any additional spaces are filled by successful external applicants. External applications are processed in order of date and time of registration with the exception of Upper Shell (Year 7) where we encourage applicants to sit our annual Charles Dickens Scholarship examination.

Class sizes are small and we remain committed to keeping them below a maximum of 20 pupils. Our smaller class sizes allow us to have greater knowledge of our pupils.  With more time available to spend with each child we are able to gain a very clear insight into their individual strengths and weaknesses ensuring they make strong academic progress. We become knowledgeable of their individual interests and personality traits which has a positive effect on their personal development. These benefits, combined with the additional opportunities available for our pupils, such as the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) in the Upper School and our own on-site Forest School for the younger pupils in the Lower School, makes Gad’s Hill a number one choice for many families.

Please contact the admissions team if you would like to learn more about the admissions process or to discuss availability into other year groups as we are able to accept external applications providing there is space available.
