Design and Technology is an inspiring, rigorous and practical subject. Using creativity and imagination, pupils design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values.

At Gad’s pupils work on termly project based activities to acquire a broad range of subject knowledge and draw on cross-curricular knowledge from other subjects, such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art.  Pupils learn how to take risks, becoming resourceful, innovative, enterprising and capable citizens.  Through the evaluation of past and present Design and Technology, they will develop an understanding of its impact on daily life and the wider world.

Juniors are challenged with a range of exciting design briefs and projects to test their abilities and stretch their creative designing skills.  We aim for each project to allow pupils to develop the creative, technical and practical expertise needed to perform everyday tasks confidently and to participate successfully in an increasingly technological world. They are challenged to design and make a creative, practical and viable working product.

Design and Technology allows Junior pupils to experiment with inventive problem solving and develop key practical skills including a good working knowledge of resistant materials and the opportunity to be hands-on and work with tools and equipment.
