Gad’s Hill Year 11 students took part in the first of a series of careers workshops today.
A specialist adviser from academic youth charity CXK, talked to the 15-16-year olds about their academic and employment options after leaving the school.
Together, the classmates considered the most effective ways to prepare to make important decisions about the next chapter of their learning, be that A-levels, a college course or apprenticeship.
While the adviser explained that it is perfectly normal to still be unsure of what path to take, he was impressed by the confidence that many Gad’s Hill students demonstrated in their career goals.
Emilia, 15, is keen to pursue a profession in law and knows which GCSE, A level and degree grades she requires to make her study plan a reality. Meanwhile, Piers, also 15, and motivated by his Head of Gad’s Hill CCF status, is set on joining the Royal Engineers.
Head of Careers and Work-related Learning, Miss Sameena Rana, said: “We want to ensure our students are fully equipped to navigate their way through the next steps after leaving Gad’s Hill.
“Although we can’t hold an on-site careers fair this term, the cohort will continue to receive regular guidance and support throughout their final year.”
Today’s presentation was filmed and will be sent to Y11 parents to watch with their child this evening. The CXK representative will return to school in November where he will be running group interview skill sessions as well as holding mock interviews.Posted on
