Year two children are now bringing in a book to read with the class on their birthday, instead of the usual sweet treats.

As well as avoiding sticky hands and a queue for candy, the six to seven-year-olds take the time and space to share a story.

Form tutor Mr Patey said:   “Reading and story-telling is a big part of our day in K2 as it encourages listening, focus and curiosity.

“The children are excited to choose and present their birthday book on their special day and I hope this new class tradition will further develop their love of reading.”
