A former Gad’s Hill Head girl has returned to the school to start her career as a teacher.
Head of Senior School in 2015, Katherine Hodge is training to be a Geography teacher after graduating from University of Reading with a 2:1 in BSc Geography (Human and Physical).
Katherine joined Gad’s Hill nursery aged three and said: “I couldn’t think of a better place to learn how to educate children. I have so many fond memories of my 12 years here and I’ve always considered myself part of the Gad’s family.”
“As well as being part of an intensive programme of primary and secondary lesson planning and delivery, I will also be helping out with the netball club and Critical Thinking syllabus – my three favourite disciplines when I was a student here.”
21-year-old Katherine is working towards a QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in age 11-16 Geography and will be required to pass a wide range of practical and theoretical modules during the academic year.
While external training provider eQualitas will oversee Katherine’s progress, Gad’s Hill Geography teacher, Mr Benedict Harris, will support her on a day-to-day basis. Gad’s Hill Director of Studies, Dr. Stephanie Burke is not only Katherine’s lead mentor but her former Geography teacher, under whose guidance she achieved an A grade in the subject.
Katherine joins two other Gad’s Hill School’s staff, who are also training for their QTS qualification this year.
