Gad’s Hill students welcomed a local industry expert, and friend of the school, to judge their House art competition this week.
Illustrator and Graphic Recorder, Mrs Juli Dosad, joined Kindergarten, Junior and Senior children in the school’s theatre to critique the exhibition of more than 50 2D and 3D pieces. Entrants from Beatty, Haig and Wellington Houses designed pieces expressing what being a Gad’s Hill House member means to them.
Mrs Dosad, whose daughter Ellie, a former House Captain, left the school after gaining eight GCSEs, as well as qualifications in music and IT, in 2015, was very impressed with the quality of the students’ artwork: “The children have interpreted the brief in some very creative ways, conveying their personal House values in a variety of different mediums.
“Some are conceptual, some are comedic but they all share a passion and pride for Gad’s Hill School.”
Rochester-based Mrs Dosad had the unenviable task of choosing the best painting, drawing, sculpture, model or collage from each age category, with the winners receiving a gift voucher.
After the first places were announced, Mrs Dosad spent time talking to the contestants and their families about the thought process behind, and execution of, their artwork, before being thanked and invited back to future art events by Gad’s Hill Headmaster, Mr Paul Savage.
