Our Year four classes put their needlecraft skills to good use to create their very own sock monsters.
As part of this term’s Design and Technology textiles topic, the eight to nine-year-olds made the colourful creations, complete with button eyes, pipe cleaner antennae and Pom Pom tails!
The children were challenged to demonstrate different stitches, such as anchor, blanket and running as well as attach cloth limbs, fabric patches and Velcro-fastening clothing.
Junior Art Co-ordinator, Mr John Waring, said: “Working together, the classmates fashioned some brilliant pieces, all from some old, but clean, deconstructed socks!
“What was a really fun project, also showcased just how well the students listened and learned some very tricky sewing techniques and I am very impressed with the results.”
