Gad’s Hill has been awarded top marks for its catering, following an unannounced food hygiene inspection this week.

The school was tested according to national food safety guidelines (Food Safety and Hygiene (England) Regulations 2013) for cleanliness and management and rated ‘excellent’ for its operating systems and high standards.

Catering Manager, Mr Craig Burgin, and his seven-strong team, was awarded the maximum five star rating by Gravesham Borough Council and commended for faultless compliance with food hygiene and safety procedures.

Mr Burgin said:  “Our continued five star rating is testament to the hard work and talent of the catering team.

“We all share a passion for preparing and serving top notch food and to be recognised for our commitment boosts our already strong work ethos.

“Achieving and maintaining a first class professional benchmark allows us to better look after our #GadsFamily.  We pride ourselves on knowing the dietary requirements, personal preferences and class favourites of our Nursery, Kindergarten, Junior and Senior students – and teachers of course!

“Whether it be serving seconds of our homemade steak pie to a strapping GCSE student, or encouraging a three-year-old to try new flavours and textures, we strive to make meal times at Gad’s a happy and relaxed highlight of the day.”

The Gad’s catering team provides a choice of healthy home-cooked hot dishes such as Cottage Pie, fruit crumbles and roast dinners every day for the school’s 3-16 year-old students.

Vegan and vegetarian diners are also catered for, with gluten-free alternatives available.  Students can also help themselves to salad and fresh fruit throughout the day.
