Almost 50 music students took centre stage at the Gad’s Developing Musicians Concerts this week, regardless of their age or experience.
All Juniors, and Seniors who study music, are invited and encouraged to perform solo pieces at the celebration event, which showcases the vocal and instrumental talents of students.
Director of Music John Stone said: “It takes confidence and a great deal of practice and dedication to play to a live audience – even a friendly one!
“Music is a gift that is honed over a lifetime and to see the children progress year-on-year is a pleasure and privilege.”
Participants performed a variety of musical genres on instruments including drums, piano and marimba, with many choosing a vocal recital.
The Senior and Junior marimba ensembles also performed challenging repertoires.
Teachers, support staff and friends of the school had the unenviable task of marking each artist and the scores will determine who will go on to compete at the Spring Music Festival in March.
