Our new L4 cadets attended their first weekend camp at Saint Martins Plain Training Centre in Folkestone last week.
Read Gad’s Combined Cadet Force’s Contingent Commander, Major mark Lamb’s camp report:
“The cadets arrived Friday evening to enjoy their first hearty army evening meal. This was followed by lessons on how to live in a military environment, including a new experience for some on how to keep rooms tidy and beds made!
Saturday was an early start (6.30am) followed by drill lessons, skill at Arms and Paint. The highlight was the opportunity to go over a full sized obstacle course.
I was truly amazed at the sheer effort and tenacity of all those that had a go at the course, it is a daunting experience for some adults.”
Saturday evening was some well-earned down time in the NAAFI.
Sunday saw some classroom based lessons followed by a patrolling lesson on one of the Army’s training areas
Thank you to the staff, Capt Godding, Lt Ellis, WOII Lavery and a special mention to CSSgt Barnes, CCpl Mason and CLcpl Clabon, who came along to give both moral and logistical support to the cadets.”
