Our Y1 class worked together to find out about the Gad’s community on a recent visit to Higham village.
The five to six-year-olds are learning about the local area this term and used a map to navigate the route from school to the library and Post Office.
On the way, the classmates named different kinds of houses and talked about local buildings and businesses, such as shops and pubs.
During their time at the library, the cohort enjoyed some stories together and borrowed a book to take home to read.
Every child asked and paid for their own stamp at the Post Office, before sticking it on a letter home that they had written in class and popping it in the postbox.
Head of Kindergarten and K1 teacher Mrs Victoria Grant, said: “The children were beautifully behaved as always and found out lots of practical information which really helps bring our topic to life, as well as building on maths and communication skills.”
