GCSE Food and Nutrition students celebrated International Bread Day by baking hot cross buns – and ‘proving’ there is a lot more to the course than just cooking.

The end result of the Year 10’s practical lesson was a spiced sweet fruit bun but the 14-15 year-olds also achieved essential learning objectives too.

As well as practising how to shape and prove bread, the classmates worked together to develop their time management and problem solving skills and improve resilience in the kitchen.

After, to progress their sensory analysis abilities, the cohort carried out taste tests, before taking the hot cross buns home to share with families.
