Year six equestrian Lily-Ann has been named winner of a prestigious pony title, after being ranked top in various riding disciplines.
Ten-year-old Lily-Ann was awarded The Under 12 Silver Cup after competing in an annual event run by West Kent Meopham Pony Club.
The coveted title tests participants’ riding and jumping ability, general equestrian knowledge and stable management, as well as judging their technique in Pony Club games. Lily-Ann’s pony, Joey, was also challenged to carry out obedience tasks.
Lily-Ann was thrilled with her win: “I am so proud of Joey and of our success – our hard work has paid off and it’s amazing to see my name engraved on the cup with other champions from as far back as 1950.
“We have been reading Michael Morpurgo’s ’War Horse’ at school, whose lead character is ‘Joey’ the horse, so this year really has been all about two of my favourite hobbies, reading and riding.”Posted on
