Our Year sevens have been welcomed to Gad’s Houses in a graduation ceremony to mark their successful completion of an innovative induction programme.
The 35-strong, two-form, 11-12 year-olds have been paired-up with Gad’s Year 11 mentors since the start of term, to help them settle and thrive, and parents were invited to a special assembly to mark the occasion.
Head of Senior School, Mr Jack Tyler, who spoke about the graduating students’ highlights to-date, said: “We have so much to celebrate today. All of you have contributed to the Gad’s community, be it excelling in academic subjects; playing a new instrument and performing in a concert for the first time; making new friends or being a tour guide and ‘buddy’ for Year six children from other schools at a very busy open morning and subsequent taster days.”
“I am proud of how you have become part of the Gad’s family in such a short time and look forward to sharing your future achievements and successes – and to seeing you standing proudly acting as mentors to future young Seniors in five years’ time!”
The pairs have worked together to complete the term-long syllabus which includes personal, social and academic challenges and were presented with their House ties as an acknowledgement and reward for their efforts and achievements.
