Our Y10s are working ‘9 to 5’ at work placements this week – one has impressed her employer so much, she has been offered a Saturday job!
Libby’s placement is at Lucia Victoria Interiors Ltd. In West Malling. The 15-year-old is enjoying creating mood boards for clients who are renovating their homes and was thrilled with the job offer.
Every year, the Gad’s Y10 cohort completes work experience in a wide range of professions including banking, architecture, hospitality, charity work and teaching.
Head of Careers and Work Related Learning, Miss Sameena Rana said: “Work experience is invaluable for our students. They are able to find out more about working life and we are so grateful to the many employers for providing them with real-world opportunities.”
“Year-on-year, we receive comments on how hard working, courteous and reliable Gad’s pupils are during work experience and many are offered full-time employment after.
“The students return more motivated for their final studies and with a clearer vision of their career goals.”
Miss Rana visits each student to find out more about their post – this week’s Go-Sees include Wura who is sitting-in on interviews and trials at Medway Magistrates Court with Vyman Solicitors; Cicely who is working with Reception children at The Hundred of Hoo Academy and Jimmy who is collecting, labelling and storing food donations at local homeless shelter, Caring Hands.
Further placements this year include: Jemima, Mead Veterinary Centre; Grace, Marks & Spencer; Anna, AKO Capital LLP William and G&M Motors.
