A Gad’s Hill student was awarded first place in a regional ballroom contest, just over a year after starting dancing.
Autumn Hansford, 9, from Shorne, took the title of best Under 10 Ballroom dancer at the ProAm Champions event in Brentwood, Essex earlier this month.
Competing in the youngest category, Autumn competed in 70 heats throughout the day before being named Ballroom champion. The Year four Gad’s pupil won a total of seven gold, silver and bronze medals on the day after also taking part in Latin dance-offs.
Gad’s Head of Junior School, Mrs Glynda Cullen, said: “We are incredibly proud of Autumn’s fantastic achievement and talent in this sport.
“The ‘Gad’s family’ supports and celebrates our students’ successes in and out of school and I am excited for what the future holds for such a happy and dedicated little girl.”
Autumn’s favourite lessons at Gad’s are music and drama and she is enjoying rehearsing for the upcoming Junior production of ‘Aladdin’.
ProAm events aim to give solo and partnered professional and amateur dancers of all ages, from all over the country, the opportunity to take part in competitions.
Autumn is currently ranked 5th and 8th in the ProAm UK Latin and Ballroom league tables respectively.
