Gad’s cadets are spending today on some of Lincolnshire’s finest shooting ranges as part of the school’s week-long summer camp.
The 50-strong Gad’s contingent arrived at Beckingham Training Camp on Saturday and have already taken part in many military workshops and exercises.
Working in teams, the 13-15-year-olds students have mastered how to use army communication systems; practiced ‘skill-at-arms’ during a rifle session and learned tactics about how to keep safe on the battlefield.
Today’s manoeuvres include how to safely fire shotguns and air rifles and tomorrow will see the Gad’s group take to the water for some thrilling adventure activities.
While on camp, the cadets will experience a wide range of team building and challenge pursuits as well as first aid training, instruction on leadership and orienteering and an overnight exercise where they will sleep outdoors in a tactical environment.
Beckingham Training Camp boasts first-rate in-camp training facilities such as a substantial obstacle course and an extensive drill square.
