Day two of our Enrichment Week saw the children undertaking a comprehensive First Aid course and achieving the status of Mini-Medic.

The course, supported by NUCO Training, the UK’s leading independent instructor training company specialising in first aid, defibrillation and compliance training, includes educational, theoretical and practical teaching sessions.

Head of Junior School, Mrs Glynda Cullen, said: “Gad’s is committed to preparing children for life, academically, socially, emotionally and with responsibility by equipping children with the skills required to respond with calm effectiveness to any emergency.

“Mini Medics is a fun course whilst being educational and practical and instils the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.”

The course, for all Junior children, covered:

  • What is First Aid?
  • Defibrillation
  • First Aid kits
  • Recovery position
  • Choking
  • Resuscitation (CPR)
  • DR ABC
  • Wounds and bleeding
  • Asthma
  • Shock
  • Safety
  • Communication and contacting the emergency services

Every child received a pen, Mini-Medics book and a certificate for completing the course.
