Our youngest children invited their mums to a special assembly in the school theatre to celebrate Mothering Sunday – and share what the day means to them and children all over the world.

Students from Gad’s Nursery and Kindergarten classes took to the stage to entertain their guests of honour with a mix of poems, readings and songs.

A Year two child gave a reading about the history of Mother’s Day in different countries before joining her classmates to proudly read-out some similes dedicated to their mums: ‘busy as a bee’, ‘pretty as a butterfly’ and sweet as a rose in bloom’ were greeted with extra loud cheers!

All Gad’s Nursery, Reception and Years one and two’s toe-tapping routines and well-practised prose, performed against a stage decorated with a collage of flower and heart drawings, received heart-felt applause from the audience.

Head of Kindergarten, Miss Victoria Wilson, said: “As always, the children put on a great show and I am very proud of their confident performances – and of course their beaming smiles! What a lovely end to the term.”
