Gad’s Junior students took part in interactive literary workshops to mark World Book Day – after joining the Kindergarten and Nursery children for a catwalk character parade in the school’s theatre.

The 7-11-years-olds have been studying classic authors in the run-up to the international celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading.

Children from each different year group came dressed as somebody, or something, from a book they have read in class, by an author they have been learning more about this term.

Throughout the day, Junior classmates visited different workstations to complete learning and practical challenges to enhance their understanding of authors Cressida Cowell, Roald Dahl, C.S. Lewis and J.K. Rowling.

The Nursery and Kindergarten classes joined the Juniors and teachers where they took a turn on the runway dressed as book characters.

Many of the outfits had been hand-crafted by the students (and parents) themselves and Head of Junior School, Mrs Glynda Cullen congratulated the children on their creativity, enthusiasm and impeccable behaviour throughout the day.
