T.S Elliot wrote that every writer owes something to Holmes and this week, J5 and Remove immersed themselves in the fascinating work of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fiction that is, ‘The Speckled Band’.

The classmates worked in groups to scrutinise the complex text, pulling out every clue to solve the murder whilst acquiring exemplary vocabulary and grammatical writing skills at the same time.

They presented their theories, backed up with textual evidence, to the class.

Our super-sleuth’s enjoyed the lessons but were grateful when Mrs Cullen finally allowed them to read Holmes’s explanation of the mysterious circumstances surrounding the crime.
