Our youngest children celebrated Chinese New Year by taking part in specialist workshops, before putting on a show for parents.

Students from Nursery to Year Two found out about the Year of the Earth Pig by performing a traditional dragon dance, after practising with classmates and a professional artist from Education Group, a leading provider of interactive learning sessions for children

Families were invited to see the youngsters present the routine with the mythical creature, which symbolises good luck, long life and wisdom.

Head of Gad’s Kindergarten, Miss Victoria Wilson, said: “The children were fascinated by the dragon and there was a special part to play for each of them.

“We have all enjoyed understanding more about the Chinese culture and the activities complement what our pupils learn in their regular music, games, art and drama lessons.”

During the day, the classes also created their very own work of art in the Chinese New Year plate painting mobile studio.
