Gad’s youngest cadets worked together to build their very own shelters in last week’s after-school club.
The 10-11 year-old classmates were challenged to construct a ‘Basha’, a type of emergency cover used by bushcrafters and survivalists and in the army.
As well as having a lot of fun, the children learned survival skills which they can use as Gad’s Senior cadets.
Gad’s Combined Cadet Force invites its Y8-11 contingent to an annual summer camp where they take part in adventure training including spending a night in the woods sleeping in shelters.
Junior Cadet Club leader, Medical and Welfare Manager and CCF Officer, Mrs Christie Godding, said: “As the smiles show, the cadets really enjoyed working hard together to build their best shelters, despite the rain and very muddy ground!”
