Our Year one classmates spent a day pond-dipping and learning about mini beasts as part of this term’s studies on wildlife and habitats.

The children travelled to Horton Kirby Educational Centre to find out first-hand how and where the tiniest river creatures live.

Working in groups and using long nets, they took turns searching for bugs in the water and nearby meadows.

K1 also explored a badger’s sett, identified various species of trees and listened to different bird sounds, to build on their growing knowledge of plants and animals.
