Well done to the Gad’s cadets, who were ‘the talk of the town’ on ‘best camp ever’.
Read Contingent Commander Major Mark Lamb’s camp report:
Gad’s Hill CCF has just returned from a most successful time at their annual camp held in Crowborough Sussex – it was a very hot week which did not perturb our cadets!
It was an action packed week. The cadets especially enjoyed the Laser Quest, overnight camp and the Adventurous training day held at Bewl Water. On the training area they experienced ambushes, compound attacks and clearance, survival skills and first aid.
The final day was an inter school competition with Gad’s entering two teams in 14 events (most of the other nine schools had much older cadets as they have 6th forms).
Gad’s Hill walked away with 86 medals and the ‘Best Contingent’ prize. We are very proud of the commitment, stamina and skill shown by all who came to camp. The directing staff of the camp said that Gad’s were the talk of the town for their motivation and engagement on every stand. The week finished with the traditional end of camp promotions seeing five new Lance Corporals, four Corporals, five Sergeants and two new Staff Sergeants.
This was the best camp we have ever attended both in terms of the training provided and the enthusiasm of the cadets. The prizes were well deserved. I would particularly like to thank the staff who came with us and worked long hot days to ensure the cadets had a great time. I would also like to thank the Upper 5th Matt, Zara, Sean, Danny and Maisie who following on from finishing their exams volunteered to come away and helped run the camp.
