Following World Book Day, our Year seven students reviewed the pages of reading books as part of their studies on probability.

The classmates were challenged to investigate the probability that the third word on the third line of any page would contain the letter ‘a’.

Each pupil in Mrs Ostrehan’s class randomly selected 50 pages to test the theory – Jake Atkins’ book had more than 90% success rate, while Lewis Bodman’s had just 16%.

To finish the lesson, the class reviewed what their novel was about and all agreed with Mrs Ostrehan’s philosophy that ‘maths is in everything we do!’
