A staff rock band performed alongside the Gad’s Hill choir at the school’s annual carol service at Rochester Cathedral.
Gad’s Director of Music, Mr John Stone said: “We are very fortunate to have not only gifted student musicians but also a talented teaching team.
“We encourage everybody at Gad’s to have a love of music, whatever the genre.”
Soloists, and the choir performed traditional carols and modern festive songs, accompanied by the school’s music scholars playing marimbas.
After, the rock band took to the stage for their rendition of John Lennon’s ‘Happy Xmas (War is Over)’.
Teachers and pupils, as young as six, gave readings from the traditional nine lessons, while Year two children performed a series of tableaux to illustrate the nativity story.
Special guests this year were Mayor and Mayoress of Gravesham; Cllr Harold Craske and Mrs Veronica Craske and Deputy Mayor and Escort Medway , Councillor Gloria and Mr Richard Opara.
Gad’s Hill Headmaster Mr David Craggs said: “The carol service is a time honored tradition at Gad’s and is a lovely way to mark the end of another great term and the start of Christmas celebrations for our children and their families.”
Supported by a Salvation Army band, the finale was ‘Hark the Herald Angels Sing’.Posted on
