Read PE teacher Mr Tyler’s match report:

Our U13 team started the season with a hard-fought win over The Howard Academy, defeating the visitors six tries to four.  In what was their first game of the year, the boys performed well to hold off a spirited fight-back from the competition and they can now look forward to the next game.

Within the first five minutes, Gad’s was already ahead through two quick tries from the powerful James B., whose running caused problems for the opposition all game.

More strong running was provided from Declan D. and Adrian E., helping create the space for George T., Mac F., Benj B. and Edward M. in the back line.  There were also admirable debuts from Alfie M. and Piers C., who quickly found their feet in the squad.

By half time the score was 5-2, with further tries from James B. and Adrian E., however the game was never quite sealed until the final whistle and The Howard continued to press.

Gad’s looked to get the ball wide to Cailan T., Alex D. and Eden M. whilst in possession of the ball but good defence from the opposition prevented fast flowing attacks.

Strong tackling in the final stages of the game from Oliver R-D, Ed M. and Carter G. ensured that Gad’s remained in the lead as The Howard closed the score to 6-4.

It was another successful meeting between the two sides, with a rematch to come in November.
