Our new Year sevens were introduced to a fun new way of learning their tables this week.

The classmates are now members of the Gad’s ‘Times Table Rock Stars’ (TTRS) community – an exciting and interactive method of mastering times tables.

Students are challenged to solve on-line questions in a high-energy, call-and-response manner, with a rock music theme.

Maths teacher Mrs Ostrehan said:  “To succeed in maths, you must have a secure knowledge of your tables – and our Seniors have really embraced the TTRS technique and are having fun learning too.

“Being able to recall answers quickly and effectively helps everybody progress onto more complex and challenging mathematical matters”

‘Times Tables Rock Stars’ is a carefully sequenced programme of daily times tables practice, designed to boost times tables recall speed.

Each week pupils concentrate on a different times table, with a recommended consolidation week for rehearsing the tables that have recently been practiced every third week or so.

Well done to Sukhmanvir and Jake A. who are currently top on the Baseline leader board.
