Year 5 student Ollie L has been ranked 15th in the Sabre Fencing England Youth Championships, despite having only taken up the sport less than a year ago.
Read proud Fencing Coach and PE teacher Miss Ellis’ report:
Ollie joined the many children from around the UK to take part in the England Youth Championships at the University of Hertfordshire Sports Village.
This is a very strong event in sabre and Ollie performed brilliantly. He won three out of six matches in the poule which secured a seed of 19th overall going into the direct elimination. Ollie successfully beat his first opponent 10-4 in his first match to make it into the last 16.
Unfortunately he drew No. 2 seed in the next round and gallantly fought to the end of the match.
Overall Ollie place 15th and with less than a year fencing under his belt I feel this is a great achievement.
