GCSE students from Gad’s Hill served tea and cake to local people at ‘Love Higham Day’ at the weekend.

The classmates were invited to help at the community day by Higham Parish Council and spent the afternoon helping serve refreshments to the many visitors from in and around their school’s village.

Gad’s Hill Headmaster David Craggs said:  “Our Year 11s enjoyed meeting new people and learning more about the area where they study.

“Being part of today further strengthens the links we have within our community, be it hosting an annual tea party for Higham pensioners or welcoming the primary school children to one of our many theatrical productions.”

Feedback from the day was encouraging, with many of the attendees commenting on the impeccable manners and maturity of the Gad’s Hill students – and a special mention for the delicious lemon drizzle cakes, baked and donated by the Gad’s catering team.

‘Love Higham’ day was set-up and run by the Parish Council to give residents the opportunity to provide input into a plan which will cover important issues influencing the village in the future.
