Keen swimmer Emily Barwick, of J5G, swam two miles, in 1 hour and 49 minutes, and raised more than £1,700 for a children’s cancer charity.
Emily was only nine-years-old when she completed the 160-length sponsored challenge at Roko Health Club, Gillingham, to raise funds for the Alexandra Sales Trust.
Proud parents Julie and Paul, and little brother, J3’s Max, were joined by Alexandra’s parents, who set up the charity when they tragically lost their 17-year-old daughter to a rare form of cancer in 2014.
Paul said: “We were touched when Gaynor and Tony joined us to cheer Emily on.
“Even strangers who were already at the gym came up to watch her swim and congratulate us on her fantastic achievement.
“I would like to thank all her friends and teachers at Gad’s who have helped raise funds for such a worthwhile cause.”
