Three students have completed expert challenges at Gad’s rifle club – and BASC Rifle Coach Mr Mark Tassell is confident lots more will follow.

William Margetts of Remove F and U4T’s James Sherburn have triumphed in the ‘The Polo Challenge’.

The task requires contenders to shoot clean through a Polo mint, which is attached to the centre point of previous aims on a target card.

Meanwhile U4B’s Danny Potter successfully shot a series of pellets at the same spot to earn a coveted place in the ‘One Hole group’.

Mr Tassell said: “The boys have shown continued concentration and discipline since joining rifle club and I am very proud of their achievements.

“While it is great to win a title and have fun, the most important thing about the club is learning about the safe handling of air rifles and how to behave when doing so.

“It’s a very well attended after-school activity and we follow strict rules to make sure all activities are enjoyable and safe for everybody involved.”

Rifle club is open to students from Remove – U5 and takes place in the old school hall or shooting range every Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5pm.
