Our Under 11 seven-a-side football battled 11 other Kent school squads at a recent tournament.

The Gad’s Hill Under 11 7 a side football team took part in the Ashford Prep. School Invitational Tournament. The tournament involved 12 Preparatory and Junior Schools from various parts of Kent.

Our campaign did not get off to a great start with an accident on the M20 holding up our arrival by 1 ½ hours.

We immediately had to play our three qualifying round matches in a row. Our first game against Kent College saw us attack well but struggle to convert our chances and we eventually drew the game 1 – 1. Our next group game pitched us against the hosts Ashford Prep. School. Despite having more chances and attacking play, Ashford converted one of their only two clear shots and won the game, against the run of play, 1 – 0.

Our final group game pitched us against Spring Grove Prep. School. In a similar story, we had several opportunities to score but shots were either off-target or well saved. A rare shot by Spring Grove found the back of the net and give them a 1 – 0 victory.

The group results placed us in the Plate semi-final where we faced Tenterden Junior School. Gad’s dominated this game and, despite allowing Spring Grove to score an excellent headed corner, they had several opportunities and converted twice to win the game 2 – 1.

This result put us in the plate Final where we met Laurenden School. We dominated this game but again were only able to convert a small fraction of our chances. However with Laurenden restricted to one goal from only two chances, Gad’s came away victors 2 – 1 to win the Silver plate.

Well done to the team:  Finley Godfrey, Louis Morrison, Louie Ellson, Samuel Green, Cailan Turner, George Turner, Jake Atkins, Cody Yusuf.
