Our under 10 and 11 cross country running teams all ranked in the top ten when they took part in a primary schools event in Ashford – with our under 11 girls taking first place against 14 other schools.

Experienced runner Rebecca Hanks’ silver in the individual event boosted her teams’ place to pole position.

Twelve juniors completed the Ashford Leisure Trust’s 1.5km course in the grounds of the beautiful Godinton House.

Set up to give children cross country practice and with 50 runners in each race and 15 schools taking part, for many of our children this was the first time they had competed in such a large event.

Games teacher Mr Jelfs said: “All the children put in a strong performance over a true cross country track of fields, hills and flat ground.

“Their stamina and fitness was testament to their hard work and dedication in PE lessons at school and I look forward to them competing in cross country events in the near future.
