Our Kindergarten and Junior children put on parade dressed as book characters to celebrate World book day yesterday.
Each class took its turn on the catwalk to display some very creative and lovingly-made costumes, all of which paid tribute to authors, illustrators and stories, as part of the national celebration of books and reading.
Teachers joined in too – ‘Mrs Bob’, aka Mrs Fisher, donned a hard hat (pink of course) and tool belt to compare the show while our nursery team were resplendent ushers dressed as Wizard of Oz favourites.
Friends’ chairperson Mrs Mullins had the unenviable task of judging the best dressed boy and girl from each class and presented the winners with a book to mark the occasion.
Head of Junior School Mrs Fisher said: ‘Dressing up and putting on a show is a fantastic way of reinforcing the fact that reading is fun.
“The children thoroughly enjoyed the parade and book-related class activities after and I would like to thank the teachers and parents for their continued commitment into making days like these such a success.”
