The entire Gad’s Kindergarten swapped their school uniforms for donkey, sheep, puppy, camel, angel and shepherd costumes as the performed their very special Nativity service at the Dockyard Church, Chatham.

The excited youngsters spent an enjoyable evening entertaining their parents, family and special guests with the school’s version of ‘Not such a Silent Night!’ by Ruth Kenward and Nick Perrin.

It followed the events of a cold winter's night in Bethlehem, where an innkeeper calls his animals into the stable. They make such a noise that they frighten little Larry Lamb away and so the adventure begins …

It’s a far from silent night in the stable - until Mary and Joseph arrive, bringing peace among the animals. Meanwhile, Larry Lamb has run so far that he’s lost and alone. A donkey, a camel and a sheep dog pass by - but none can help Larry get home as they don’t know where he lives. ‘You should have stayed with your mummy!’ they all tell him. At last an angel guides Larry home. In the stable he is reunited with his mother, surprised to see the animals he met while lost and meets baby Jesus. Everyone celebrates noisily, and once again it’s NOT such a silent night!

Miss Fiona McPherson, who produced the show alongside teachers from the Kindergarten and Junior school, said: “I was very impressed with all of the children. They all put a great deal of effort into learning their lines and songs, and parents had clearly put a great deal of thought into their children’s costumes. Everyone performed beautifully and I, like many, was very proud of their achievements.”

After the performance the following were presented with certificates of commendations by Headmaster, Mr David Craggs, for their hard work over the past term:

Scarlett Evans, Aila Danish, Keira Hanks, Aidan Johnson , Saffron Basi, Louis Morrison, Declan Dory, Josie Aldam, Fin Godfrey, Oliver Hitchcock, Cailan Turner, Rebecca Hanks, Lily Mai Yates, Ella-Rose Marshall, Zor Bains and Francesca Baker.
