Gad’s gets set for Christmas with carol concert

Title Bar Gad's Carols Gad's Carols

Choristers and musicians once again stole the show at the school’s annual carol service at Rochester Cathedral.

The cathedral was filled to the brim for this event, with people amazed by the high standard of reading from pupils in the Kindergarten, Junior and Senior school.

The seasonal sight which greeted the congregation included a nativity scene tableau by Kindergarten pupils, Gad’s choir and orchestra, the Salvation Army band and Christmas trees.

The special service, which had again been prepared by school staff, was led by Headmaster David Craggs and Prebendary John Prior, Honourable Priest Vicar, and took the form of a series of carols, seasonal readings and musical items capably delivered by Director of Music John Stone alongside soloists Ethan Bromley, Rebecca Morley and Charlotte Ellis.

The choir opened with the joyful ‘Once in Royal David’s City’, with Abbie Tutt performing the first verse as a solo, and throughout the evening continued to entertain the audience with a well balanced and executed programme of familiar Christmas favourites as well as lesser known but equally entertaining seasonal fare.

Headmaster David Craggs said: “Many people consider that Christmas has only truly begun when they have been to Gad’s Christmas Carol Service and no one there on the evening could be left in any doubt that ‘tis the season to be jolly once again! I am incredibly proud of the readers, choir and musicians, they all performed to a tremendously high standard and am very thankful that such a large audience could join us for the evening.”
