At last the wait is over.....
This week is the Charles Dickens Bicentenary, celebrating two hundred years since the classic author and former owner of our school, was born. For months pupils have been rehearsing tirelessly to prepare for a spectacular performance of the musical show Oliver! to coincide with these celebrations.
The children are taking part in three performances over two days. On Tuesday the 7 th February, Dickens' birthday, pupils performed to a packed house of special guests and over 400 junior school children who had been invited from the local area. Then on Tuesday evening there was a gala performance attended by many prominent local dignitaries and VIPs, local theatre goers as well as our pupils excited parents. The final show will be Wednesday 8th February.
There has been loads of interest from the media both in the UK, Germany and as far afield as the USA! You may have already spotted us on the national BBC News special Dickens report. On Tuesday the 7th Meridian News broadcast live from the Woodville Halls and all week the BBC will be broadcasting more specials about Charles Dickens featuring some of our students!
