From Kindergarten upwards, Gad’s Hill pupils are encouraged to develop their musical talents. Junior pupils can learn to play a variety of different instruments through private tuition during the school day and via whole class music lessons where pupils can learn to play instruments including percussion, the violin, maribima’s and piano.
The School has three choirs; the Junior School, Senior School and Chamber Choir, all choirs rehearse weekly and perform regularly at school concerts. There are also thriving bands and ensembles which allow children of all abilities to take part in making music. Due to popular demand, the School also has its very own Rock Band, who again rehearse weekly and perform on several occasions throughout the year.
Children who play an instrument either as a soloist, part of a band, or ensemble, and those who sing in the choir have plenty of opportunities to perform for their parents, family, friends and teachers at the numerous concerts and events Gad’s puts on during each school year.
Many of these concerts take place at the Historic Dockyard Church in Chatham, often in front of special guests, such as members of the Royal Engineers Concert Band, creating a real sense of occasion for both performers and audiences.
