Apart from developing physical skills and fitness, a variety of sporting activities give children the opportunity to develop both team and individual skills.
A specialist teacher teaches Physical Education throughout the school. All Juniors have the equivalent of six lessons a week, including games afternoons in which pupils are given specialised lessons in different sports and swimming.
Pupils are encouraged to make full use of the extensive grounds and sports facilities during breaks.
The facilities within the school include an all-weather court, ‘jungle gym’, a sports field and a brand new gymnasium. Swimming is taught from Year 3 at a local leisure centre. A balanced PE programme develops the skills to play rounders, cricket, football and dodgeball. Athletics, gymnastics, dance and swimming are also important parts of the curriculum.
