Last week, 21 school-children spent two nights at the Kingswood Grosvenor Hall Activity Centre, Ashford, to help teach them a range of new skills, such as teamwork and communication, and to give them the chance to have plenty of fun with their friends!

The children took part in activities including quadbiking; the Jacobs Ladder, where climbers overcame their fear of heights as they navigated their way up a giant high ropes ladder; and problem solving.

The pupils also took part in team building activities such as the ‘Nightline’ where they had to rely on each other to complete a series of obstacles and mazes blindfolded.

On their first night at the centre, the group enjoyed toasted marshmallows over a campfire, sharing jokes and singing songs. And on their final night - after putting on their finest outfits - the groups best dancers tore up the dancefloor at the disco!

Teacher Mrs. Jackie Frier, who went on the trip, said: “It was wonderful to see the excitement on the children’s faces when they accomplished a task they thought to be impossible. Everyone got in to the team spirit and very much encouraged each other to achieve personal challenges, such as overcoming a fear of heights.

“At Gad’s, we believe that residential trips are of enormous benefit to children. Not only are they useful for learning and enjoying each others company outside the school, they also provide fantastic opportunities to learn vital skills, such as the value of teamwork, in a practical environment.

“We look forward to taking other classes away for trips in the near future.”
