Pupils Handbook Statutory Information Job Opportunities Links

Statutory Information
When you first register an interest in a place at Gad’s Hill School, you will be given a prospectus detailing admission procedures, school rules and the school ethos.

A pupil handbook is issued to all new pupils as they join the school and, for existing students, is available to download from the school website. If you would prefer a hard copy one can be obtained in the school office.

The following information is updated annually and is made available to prospective parents with the school prospectus, and is provided for current parents in the Gadshillian which is supplied to parents each year. The information is also available on the school website:

  • School statement of ethos
  • Admission arrangements
  • Provision for pupils with statements and English as an additional language
  • Details of academic performance*
  • The number of complaints received the previous year. (In 2006/07 the school received complaints)
  • Staff list and qualifications*

In addition, the following are available in the student handbook. (Where these are updated as a result in change of legislation, the latest edition is available in the school office)

  • Arrangements for discipline and exclusions
  • Details of the school’s complaints procedures
  • Anti bullying policy*
  • Pupil performance and behaviour management procedures
  • First aid procedures
  • Equal opportunities policy
  • Disability policy*
  • Child protection policy*
  • Learning support policy

Further information, curriculum and welfare policies and documentation are not routinely published to parents but available for inspection in the school office:

  • Teaching and learning policy*
  • Handwriting policy
  • Work related learning policy*
  • School visits procedures*
  • Departmental handbooks which contain details of the courses followed by pupils*
  • PHSE audit

Please note that parents are informed of any other essential statutory information in further issues of The Gadshillian. You will be notified of any documentation that has been updated when the need arises.

The current Chairman of the Governors for Gad’s Hill School, Mr. John Melville can be contacted via the school office or via e mail on j.melville@gadshillschool.org. A full list of incumbent Governors is published in the Gadshillian and is also available on the school website.

The school’s website address is www.gadshillschool.org

Gads Hill School is a provider of Early Years Education, full details of which can be requested from the Bursary. However, we must point out that we are unable to meet the full 38 weeks free entitlement and cannot guarantee that the extra provision will be supplied by another provider.

The school operated the Early Years Nursery funding under the guidance of Kent County Council.

* indicates that the documentation has been recently amended in line with current legal requirements.
