Remembering Dickens
The school took part in the annual Dickens Memorial Evensong at Rochester Cathedral last night.
The service commemorated 140 years since the death of the man who is widely regarded as Britain’s greatest author. It is never a surprise to see so many people in attendance, yesterday being no exception.
Our 50 strong school choir led the service with some fantastic singing and they were accompanied by some very competent reading by John Adams, Lyndsey Narbeth, Christian De Grussa and Courteney Page.
We were delighted to be joined, not only by parents and governors last night but by a collection of ‘Pickwickians’ who, in their Dickensian costumes, truly brought the event to life. There is no doubt the service was one that Dickens himself would have been proud of.
Thank you to Douglas Sands and Brigitte Schweitzer who laid the school’s wreath at the Dickens memorial.
