Gad's Biathlon success

Triathlon and Biathlon are quickly becoming the number one competitive sport in the country and the action is not just reserved for those over eighteen. Gad’s Hill entered 14 competitors in this weekend’s Biathlon National Qualifiers in Gillingham and returned with some very pleasing results.

In years six and seven competitors had a fifty metre swim and a five hundred metre run; and in year eight the swim was one hundred metres with a one thousand metre run. For many of our athletes the event provided them with a number of personal bests. Year Six pupil Lewis Drysdale had the third fastest swim and the fourth fastest run time out of thirty six competitors and Zak Warwood in Year Eight finished second out of thirty in his run. The overall results were fantastic. Our year six boys came third overall, with Lewis Drysdale gaining the individual second place. The Year Seven boys narrowly missed out on a medal achieving fourth place but the highlight of the day was the Year Eight boys who won their age group by a comfortable margin.

A special mention should go to Emily Latter who was the only female in our team coming away with two very good personal bests in her run and swim. We will now wait to see which of our competitors will go forward to the nationals
