7th Jul 2009

One great day out !

Every year Gad’s Hill invites 50 local residents to visit the school for lunch and an afternoon of entertainment. The day was planned and organised by the school’s year 10 pupils and included a quiz, three course lunch, a 40 minute variety performance and afternoon tea.

Year 10 Pupil Beau Mehmet said, ‘We worked really hard planning this event but it was all worth it, we enjoyed ourselves and so did our visitors. The day is all about teaching us to be organised and to learn how to deal with people and I think everyone has come away having learnt something as well as having a really good time ‘

Local resident Jack Messam said ‘The food and entertainment today were wonderful but above all I was so impressed by the students at Gad’s Hill, they were polite, helpful and genuinely interested in talking to us. We all had a wonderful day, even the awful weather could not put a dampener on it!’

The residents lunch is part of the Gad’s Hill activity week that has seen classes visiting London to see Oliver in the west end, a visit to the trenches and WW1 graves in Belgium, an art trip to the Tate Modern including a sketching session along the South Bank, and an enterprise day where students had to develop and market their own business.
