Mrs Jennie Marsh 1951- 2009 A Memorial Service
Following the tragic loss of Mrs Marsh over the weekend we are planning to arrange a brief memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs Marsh, to remember her achievements in caring for a generation of young people and to recognise the contribution she has made to Gad’s Hill School over the past nine years.
The service will be led by the Revd John Prior, one of our school Governors, and will take place at 5pm on Friday, 22nd May at the Royal Dockyard Church, The Historic Dockyard, Chatham. The service will last for approximately 30 minutes and will be followed by refreshments in Commissioners House adjacent to the church.
This invite is extended to all pupils, parents, colleagues and friends of Jennie to the service. The service will consist of music, prayer and readings and will seek to strike the balance between remembering Jennie, allowing the school to come to terms with her loss and of celebrating the life of someone who touched us all with her enthusiasm and zest for life. I do hope as many of you as possible will join us.
We have to organise the service at very short notice and many of the logistical details are still being put together. However, car parking will be as usual on the quay side; as it is for our musical concerts, and with the exception of a few key people involved in the service, there will be no reserved seating.
As a result of the service there will be no after school care, homework club or clubs after 4.15pm on Friday, 22nd May.
The service will be attended by Malcolm, Jennie’s husband, as well as her daughter’s Sallie and Alison. The family, indeed Jennie herself, asked not for a sombre service but one which celebrates her life. I do hope you will join us.
