Mrs. Marsh

Students, parents and colleagues will be saddened to hear that Jennie Marsh passed away, after a brief illness, over the weekend.

Many of you will have been aware that Jennie did not return to school after the Easter break, she underwent an operation during the break and was due to start several months of prolonged chemotherapy. Unfortunately last week Jennie and her family learnt that her tumor has spread to such an extent that no further medical treatment was available to her. Mrs. Marsh died, in the presence of her family during the late evening on Saturday 16th May.

Jennie joined the school in 2000 and her experience and talent meant that she was quickly promoted to Head of Kindergarten and Junior School. Over the last nine years, Jennie had become a corner stone of the success of the school; she was enormously respected by her work colleagues and the students. It was a testament to her professionalism and ‘life must go on’ attitude that Jennie insisted that the students continue as normal and even popped in over the last few weeks to continue her involvement with the smooth running of the Junior School and Kindergarten.

Jennie will be missed by everyone whose lives she touched during her time at Gad’s Hill. Our thoughts at this time are with her husband Malcolm, her daughters Alison and Sally and her parents.

Students have been informed during their morning tutors groups and will be encouraged to talk about their feelings as and when they need to. The school nurse will be available over the coming weeks to talk to students and parents should they need any more in – depth bereavement counseling.

We will of course keep everyone up to date with regards to funeral arrangements.
