An update from our fencing teams

Our budding fencers have been all over the country recently. Read on for reports from their coach Miss Ellis.

Kent U16/U18 Championships

Two of our Senior Gad’s fencers James Sherburn and Sean Bevis, attended the Kent Championships on Sunday 19th November. This was a very tough competition attended by a number Great Britain and England national fencers and both boys fought valiantly. James achieved bronze position in the U16 Boys event and Sean achieved 5th place in the U18 Boys event.

St Ronan’s School Interschool Competition

Miss Ellis and Mr Tyler took 16 Gad’s Hill pupils chosen from across our Junior and Senior Schools to St Ronan’s School in Hawkhurst. This was our second match and we came away victorious again. Out of the eight matches our children and won six. This showed great efforts from our children as this was the first competition for a number of them including our youngest competitor Charlie Bayley. We are looking to a rematch in March 2018.

Millfield Leon Paul Junior Series

On Sunday 26th November Miss Ellis and eight Gad’s Hill School boys drove down to Somerset to attend the final Leon Paul Junior Series of the year. This was being held at Millfield School in Street. Ollie Lloyd from our Remove placed 14 in an entry of 32. In the biggest entry list of the U13 Boys series Mac Franklin, William Porcher-Meen, Carter Gagg and Eden Morgan fought brilliantly to secure a number of points in the event. Mac placed highest in 30th place which will give him superb ranking points. Our oldest competition James Sherburn won a number of his poule matches to secure 13th rank, then went on to fight brilliantly in his first ‘DE’ match and narrowly lost his next. A huge effort made by all boys attending left a very proud Miss Ellis
